Career development, whose responsibility is it? Sure, companies can and should offer mentoring, training and explicit paths for employees to grow their careers. But in a video teaser for the upcoming “Why Gen Y Wants to Work ‘With’ You, Not ‘For’ You” panel at SXSW, Jenny Blake, who works in career development at Google and blogs at Life After College, argues that Gen Y often doesn’t do enough to take responsibility for their own career development.
