SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. -- Police say three men held three employees of a Southern California security company at gunpoint and left them tied up in a vault before fleeing with more than $1 million in cash.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Steven Ruiz tells The Associated Press that the robbery in the city just east of Los Angeles was reported at 8:43 p.m. Thursday.

He says that the robbers broke into the building through the roof and surprised its workers.

Details are still sketchy, with investigators still at the scene, but Ruiz says no one was injured.

News reports identified the business as Commonwealth International, a security service that transports money from automated teller machines.

Ruiz says that at least one suspect was armed.

He says the victims were found tied up in the vault when officers arrived.
