How to Make Cold Calling Easier - Marketing Coordinators

http://www.pagepersonnel.com.hk

One of the things that most people in sales fear is cold calling, especially if it's over the phone. I know many sales people that would rather get in their car, go to the airport, get on a plane, get a rental car and drive all the way to client simply to find out they have no interest in your product or service before they would effectively determine this through calling over the phone.

If you are looking how to make things easier one of the first things you need to do is ask yourself why is it so difficult for you? The answer for most people is that they do not like the rejection that often comes with cold calling. The first thing you need to do if you are looking how to make it easier, is to not think of a failed call as rejection. You need to think of it as more of a process then acceptance or rejection. If you get hung up on or get dumped a voicemail don't sweat it, the fact that you made it a success. Now that you've realized that you have had success whether you're cold call is accepted or rejected now you can really get on with focusing on the numbers.

Another great step in how to make cold calling easier is to set goals for yourself, while you are setting these goals don't worry as much about getting meetings or appointments as actually making the calls. In the beginning you will find success simply by making the right amount of dials. Set a goal for the day, an example would be to make 100 calls that day. Then break your daily goal into subsets, I want to make 50 before lunch and 50 after lunch. Set rewards for yourself I've even seen people go as far as putting targets out there it can be as big as if I make all my cold calls for this week I'll buy myself something nice to wear this weekend or as small as for every 10 cold calls I make I will eat a few M&Ms.

When you first start setting goals of how many calls were going to make in a day you may be surprised how difficult getting a large number like 100 a day can be. If this is the case you will need to adjust your numbers to be more realistic. Don't keep having day after day of not meeting your target, it's better to lower your target and then increase it by 1% to 2% every day until you've worked your way up to the number you initially desired.

When it comes to this type of marketing really the more you do the better you will get and you will start refining your talk track, learn more about your product and in the end become a much better salesperson for making cold calls.
